My friend Craig Laughlin, a former NHL player and currently the color commentator for the Washington Capitals, started a foundation a few years ago to raise money to fight rare cancers. There is any number of ways to raise money for charity but starting your own beer label is one of the best.
He’s put out several, including Wicked Wrister last year, and even whiskey and vodka. His latest, Top Shelf, from Calvert Brewing in Maryland, is an orange-tinged double IPA with a hint of citrus, and 8.5% alc. Like all of his beers, it’s strong and enjoyable. These beers are also limited and hard to find, so it’s fun to get the newest one when it comes out, enjoy it while it lasts, and know they the proceeds go to help fight cancer. 4 stars.
